Congratulations! Your wedding is planned and organized! You have your venue, your DJ/band, your photographer and your dress. Why not add a few more extra special touches? There are so many different ways to add a little extra here and there that don’t come at a huge cost to you. Here are some of the things I did at my wedding to make it a little extra special.

Save the Dates
I was so excited to make and send save the dates to our close friends and family. It was like we were finally ready to start the party. I used a picture from our engagement photos and created a magnet for our guests to hang on their refrigerators.
Hotel Goody Bags for Your Guests
We had a lot of out-of-town guests so we contracted with a hotel that was near our venue to block a bunch of rooms and provide a discounted rate to our guests. The hotel even let us stay there for free on our wedding night! To make our guests feel extra special we made goody bags that included snacks and wedding information.
The snacks included: bags of chips/pretzels, candy, mints, water bottles and Advil. We also made our own door signs that were personalized with our name so guests didn’t have to use the standard hotel “Do not disturb” signs. Get yours here. There was also a list of local restaurants provided so guests could eat there if they arrived a day early or left a day after the wedding. Finally, we created our own itinerary so our guests could be on time! Get yours here.
Card Holder
Some people have boxes, some people have baskets, and some people have bird cages. This is something that I did not want to spend money on because I was going to use it once and be done with it. Luckily, my MIL decorates a bird cage every Christmas so I borrowed hers and added a few decorations for the wedding.
Signs and Frames
It seems like there is a hash tag for everything these days so why should our wedding be any different? I put out signs by the bar areas so people would use our hash tag when they posted to social media. After the wedding, Shane and I searched for our hash tag and got to see everyone’s pictures!

We also created a book for our guests to write messages to us. We used our engagement pictures to add a little extra personalization to the book.
Bathroom Baskets
While this is not necessary, I always see people using the items provided in a bathroom basket. I didn’t do anything fancy but I wanted to make sure my guests had a few necessities.
A Little Treat for Your Dancing Feet
Whenever I go to a wedding I try to put a pair of flip-flops or flats in my bag because I can’t dance in heels all night. It’s just too painful! I found an inexpensive bin at the Christmas Tree Shop, bought flip-flops at Old Navy and wrapped them together to show what size each pair was. Then, I made a cute sign for the front of the bin and put it by the DJ booth. My guests still talk about what a great idea it was.
Oh Shit! Kit
This is probably one of my favorite things on the list. To make sure I was prepared for my wedding day I put EVERYTHING I thought I would need or could need in this box. It held my jewelry, tips for the hair and makeup people, medicine, razors, extra makeup and hairspray, you name it. It was for that moment of “Oh shit! I need —“. I knew right where to go…
These are just a few of the things I chose to do for my wedding. There are so many ways to add special touches and personalize your wedding. I found most of my inspiration on Pinterest. Get creative and have fun with it!
