She’s here! She’s here! Ayla is about two and a half months old now and I couldn’t be more smitten. She is a wonderful baby and a wonderful baby deserves a wonderful nursery. While she still sleeps in my bedroom we spend plenty of time in her room, too.

Ayla’s room has gone through a lot of transformation. When Shane and I first bought the house, the room was green with an alphabet border and hardwood floors.
The first thing I set out to do was remove the border. It was fairly easy since it was wallpaper. All I had to do was spray it with water and scrape it with a putty knife. Most of the border came off in big chunks but there were a few areas that were tricky.
Next, we chose a paint color. At that point in time we didn’t know we were pregnant, but I knew one day it would be a nursery so we chose a gender neutral color. I also wanted to have a feature wall so I spent a lot of time using this wall stencil.
It came out so nice and I spent so much time on it. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem quite right for the look we were aiming for. And, of course, I can’t find my pictures of the finished wall. You’ll just have to take my word for it…
In the end all four walls were painted BEHR Sparrow. We also carpeted the floors in a light gray. Then, little by little we added furniture and decor. You’ll find a lot of familiar projects in this room such as the dressers, the no sew curtains, the nail art and the bench.
I love spending time in here with Ayla and can’t wait until she is a little older so she can enjoy it just as much as I do!
