With every milestone that passes during pregnancy I get more and more excited to meet my little girl. We announced our pregnancy back in January and revealed the gender in this post. Now it’s time to start a baby registry and just the thought of it seems so overwhelming! Where do I start!?

Now that I know I’m having a baby girl I can’t wait to have PINK everywhere (in a tasteful manner)! I feel like everyone I know is having a girl this year and I’m so excited for my daughter to have so many girlfriends right from the start.
I pretty much know how I want to decorate the bedroom and there are obvious necessities we need to get started. I just get so overwhelmed every time I start to look online or page through a catalog. I recently attended a girlfriend’s baby shower, watched her open gifts and as I was leaving said to her, “I’m just going to copy your registry”.
I made a list of places to register but, really, isn’t everything pretty much the same in every store? Here is what I came up with:
Amazon
I created an Amazon registry because Amazon gives away a free Baby Registry Welcome Box. All you need to do is follow their checklist and purchase $10 worth of items from your registry to claim your box. I purchased these adorable onesies to meet the $10 threshold. My Welcome Box came within a few days after that and included:
- Swaddle
- Travel wipes carrier
- Bottle
- Vitamins
- Protein Bar
- Lotions
- Samples/Coupons
I may or may not decide to use the Amazon registry. I literally put random things from the Amazon checklist onto the registry without actually looking at what the items were so I could get the Welcome Box . If I decide to use this registry I will obviously clean it up.
Babies R Us
I plan to go to the store to start my registry here. I’m hoping a salesperson will be able to walk around with me and explain everything step by step. I chose to do my real registry here because Babies R Us offers a 10% completion discount and 10% back on purchases made from your registry. You can also use Buy Buy Baby coupons at Babies R Us (I’m always getting these in the mail).
Buy Buy Baby
I may supplement the BRU registry with a few items from Buy Buy Baby as well. My guess is that it will be a similar experience and selection as BRU. Plus, you can use their coupons.
Target
I created a Target registry online and literally put one box of diapers on it. I don’t think I will actually use this registry either, but like Amazon, Target has a Welcome Bag. All you have to do is create a registry (online or in store) and claim your Welcome Bag at customer service (in store). I also received a $20 Target gift card for creating a registry! My Welcome Bag included:
- Bottle
- Diapers/wipes
- Lotions
- Pacifier (or as I called them when I was little, “fire”)
- Measuring tape
- Samples/Coupons
Baby Box University
Baby Box University is an excellent educational resource and support system for new parents. For example, they provide education on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and have “baby boxes” that are made to reduce SIDS. In New Jersey, the box is free if you watch a few videos and pass a test. It is literally a cardboard box with a firm mattress that provides a safe sleeping space for your new baby. The box also comes with a few other things:
- Pampers
- Wipes
- Samples/Coupons
Wish me luck in getting started with my baby registry!

Looks great. Melissa I think you should also check out Amazon again because they give you a 15% completion discount on their items along with the baby box. So that was great for me. I think they still have it. Congratulations again!!!
